With a little sunshine today, I opted to turn Beamer out for a bit to romp and play. He likes to ham it up a little, and cooperated in making a video for all those who want to see how I get him to rear on command. The key is to get him in a playful mood, then it's easy. The looks he gives us at the end of the video is priceless- "
There, was that good enough? Can I go now?"

Such control over those rears there. What a good boy.
How exciting (that seems to be all I ever say!) He is looking at you that way, isn't he.
What a guy! that boy can dance!
Too funny! I friend of mine has taught her mare to rear on command.....scares the pants off some people.
aww!!!
I love the way he almost sat on his hinds. Beautiful.
How do you keep that big boy so shiny in the winter?
Gosh, it's like he's doing a levade! Very cool!
Gail, he's very athletic and uses his hind end very well, he LUVS doing sliding stops.
Sherry, I keep him blanketed in the winter, he pretty well stays slick. I have 4 blankets that I use on him, and make sure he's always dry. One of them is 100% waterproof, it's a sheet that I put over the other blanket.
Fantastyk, I bet with training he could do a levade, but it would take a better teacher than I!
Beamer looks so healthy and playful! I think it's because he's loved:0)
Umm Shirley I think you need to tell Beamer he is not white his breeding does not start with an L. He seems to be a little confused. Ha Ha he's such a camera hog.
But Lippizans are born black, maybe Beamer is delusional!
I thought about teaching Dudley this once when I saw him rear mightily, but then I thought he's already smarter than I am at some things so maybe that wasn't a great idea.
he might try it under saddle with someone - like me!

I LOVE BEAMER!!!
I had to watch that FIVE times...and I think I'll watch it again another few more times. Thanks for the video! He's adorable, handsome, and just easy on the eyes. Pure eye candy!
I love his expression at the end. You can tell he's looking for praise and that he knows he did a good job. What a great boy!
Love that Beamer!!!
