Ed challenged us to photograph fruit for this weeks Sunday Stills. Well, that didn't really inspire me until I read a comment on Cheeky Mare's blog about her mare liking bananas so I thought I'd see what my herd thought of them!
First, I offered it to Beamer. He was laying in the sun snoozing,

and he couldn't even be bothered to do more than give it a sniff and curl up his lip.
Velvet was sunning herself too, and had about the same opinioon as her daddy.

Not interested!
So I headed over to Chickory, the most inquisitive and adventurous horse on the place. She rolled it around with her lips a bit but I guess my horses just are not fans of tropical fruit!

Awww! those are such sweet photos!!! :D
Very cool, I just saw the same on Sidneys blog and her horse love bannanas..:-)
Funny. I think thay all would have prefered apples. :)
Notshy is nuts over bananas! Our horses won't even look at an apple.
I'm sure that all 3 of mine would feel the same way!
Cute for your to try! Maybe some horses like them and some don't?
Pretty sure mine would have felt the same only they would have mashed it up and made a nice mess of it first
Ah so not all horses like bananas! Mine liked corn on the cob!
Indigo HATED them at first. She would mash them into my hands and then act like I had poisoned her and make horrible faces. I kept trying, now she loves them.
I feel the need to go and see if my horses will eat them, mine turn their noses up at most things we shall see. My money is on Skookum I think he would eat anything you offer him.
LOL! I love horse muzzles and naners. So cute.
Baby Doll would put a piece of banana in her mouth, mash it around a bit then spit it out all over me. bleh! She was always very picky. She liked apples and carrots, but only the real ones, not in flavored treats or cookies. An she'd spit peppermints out, too. She always gave me the most disgusted look while curling up her lips. hehe!
I think it's neat that Beamer will allow you to get close while he's laying down, too. Such a sign of trust that is. He's so cute, like a little colt.
I love Beamer!!

Maybe it's an acquired taste. I've never tried a banana with my herd. Wonderful shots of cute lil' muzzles though!
Had horses for years but didn't know that the liked bananas - we had a pony that loved cigarettes. Good shots - I just want rub that soft nose.
You tried! We are having bananas tonight!
It was worth a try..! :)
another post about horses eating bananas! lol I never tried with mine!
Funny, mine don't like them either but candy canes are a whole different story. Cute pics.
