Chickory worked well tonight, I even managed to keep up to her trotting while I ground drove her.

I'm pretty happy with the way she is turning out, and though I had to work hard on building trust with her, it's paying off big time now.

Yup, I'm still grinning... I didn't ride her, just got on and off a couple of times, moved around a bunch, leaned all over her, petted her everywhere, etc. She looks as relaxed as she felt. Friday we step it up one more notch, I'll get my friend to lead her around while I'm on her, and if that goes well, I'll go solo. I'm so proud of this little horse, she has come a long way.

I'll send Sirocco right up!
Congrats! You definitely look happy. :) And my goodness, it is so beautiful up your way!
Woo hoo! Way to go Chick!
Yeah for Chickory!!!
Looking good! She sure has come a long way Shirley!
Trust is the most important thing in our relationship with our horses, I think. And it goes both ways; we have to trust them too. I've seen many people, myself included, have a bad experience with a horse, and never quite get that same confidence in the horse because the trust is gone. At our place, that's how we got Buddy. He bucked a fellow off, he couldn't get over it and sold him. His loss, our gain; he's such an awesome horse. But I've been there, done it too. First comes them trusting us. It's easy to betray that trust and hard to win it on some. Glad little Chickory has you.
She's looking good....awesome job Shirley, you should be proud!
Thanks, everyone. I love this little mars and I soooooo want to go cutting on her, being as how she is a granddaughter of Doc's Hickory she should love cutting.
Way to go. You look so happy :)
