Some of us may not like coyotes, but there is no denying the beauty of their cry in the still night air; there is something timeless and haunting about it. (Just keep your cats and chickens in at night!)
I sleep at night, usually, but when I hear that call it most often means there has been trouble, something dead or dying. Crows, that's the sign in the day. I have a hard time waxing poetic on coyotes or crows.
I'm afraid this is an experience that I lack living in a major city. Despite the lack of experience, however, I'm very much inclined to agree with you. I LOVE the woods and the full moon and the night and the stars and mountains of rural areas. If you're inclined to contemplation, you can make those types of surroundings into a type of monastery.
One of my all time favorites. Cowgirl Rae beat me too it, but we're having Don Edwards at our Wild Horse Expo...really looking forward to seeing him again. He's always great and such a down to earth guy.
