Kai is ready to be weaned, hopefully on the new moon on the 8th. Then I'll kick Beamer in with Belle. I still don't have a saddle that fits him, so he is getting an extended layoff, which gives me more time to spend with the fillies. It's time to start Velvet's groundwork, so I plan on hauling her over to the round pen. And it's time for Chickory to get out of the round pen and into the bigger arena, so I have lots of horse stuff to keep me busy.
I saw the first snow of the season on the way to the reunion; this shot was taken from the Galena Bay ferry across the Upper Arrow Lake.

We had a great time, the dogs all got to come and play with my brother's border collie Lucy; they played Frisbee with anyone they could sucker into throwing it for them.

The food was great, there was a pig roast,

barbequed salmon, (beautifully presented!)

and lots of salads- and ample wine! But I was good and only had one glass. I don't like feeling fuzzy the next morning. I won't bore you with photos of people you don't know! They are all on my Facebook anyway.
Back home, it's starting to feel like fall, but no frost yet. We're starting to get our winter wood in, and the geese are starting to gather. Can we please have some more summer? It's going way too fast.

I hear ya. Man that salmon looks delish.
Summer did go fast but it's been so horribly hot that I'm ready to send it on its merry way (we were in the 90s with high humidity again this week). I'm very much looking forward to fall. No snow yet but the geese are moving.
I agree that summer is going way too fast... it always does, doesn't it? That salmon does look delish!
Hmm yummy .
I've been enjoying your reunion pictures on Facebook. It snowed in East Glacier a couple of days ago and we've had a couple of light frosts here........things are leaning toward fall in a hurry.
Now that's quite the pig roaster. i have to admit there's something about seeing the whole animal that doesn't appeal to my newly aquired cullanary sensiblilities. Glad you had fun though and glad your back.
wow sammi is getting so big now!!! the dogs look great!
Looks like a good time! Here I am wishing for Fall to get here and you're wishing for summer to last! We had a much cooler day here and it was WONDERFUL!!

Im sure not looking forward to fall either, or winter, ugh.
Glad the reunion was good and the food looks awesome, I love a pig roast!
The reunion sounded fun...wow! What amazing food, too!
Lots for you to do around the ranch. Good things the temps are cooling off.
We're getting coller weather here, especially at night. Last night was in the 40's.
I love Fall, but I wish it would last longer than a couple weeks here, before snow arrives.
