There was a whole lot of squealin' going on!

Belle shows Beamer how to balance on one hoof!
It's also educational watching Belle challenging Beamer. I've learned that she 'most always strikes with her right front.

Good thing Beamer knows how to lope the sidepass!
It didn't take too long for them to settle down, then it was time to bring the youngsters in. The two young mares and Kai are now living in Beamer's pen. There's a 10 ft. alley between the pens, so all the horses can see each other. It's kind of fun watching the changing herd dynamics.

Beamer has learned how to be quick in getting out of the way!
Kai didn't get too upset, because he is with his favorite girl, Chickory. He spent more time with her than Belle for the last couple of weeks; I'd often see Belle by herself a long way away from the rest of the herd.

He should be going to his new home sometime next week.

I think Chickory will miss him.
They all seemed to have settled down nicely, and there is only the occasional bout of calling.

Belle and Beamer are eating together, like an old married couple at opposite ends of the table.

I've always felt sorry for stallions living in pens by themselves like when I worked for Bonnie. I know it's a necessary evil but even the bulls get to hang out together at the end of the season. Horses are herd animals too. Glad Beamer's got a lady bossing him around.
Good analogy, didn't take them too long....that's exactly what they look like.
Thats good for him, I think it might really help him. Coyote Belle sure was giving him the what for!
All horses seem to enjoy some sort of company, even if they are being bossed around.
I love the pic of Chickory with her head over Kai, so cute!
Go Belle! she will be good company for him once the dust settles. Chickory is a good nany for KAi ,what a sweet mare she has become
Excellent film and some superb still shots.
Glad every one is settled in nicely.
She gave him what-for! I'll bet he minds his manners!
I think most horses are "handed" - interesting to observe her doing the right front strike.
Beamer can get out of the way and look pretty fierce at the same time!

I always find animal behavior, especially equine, fascinating.
Does Belle act as defensive and vocal when she is being bred to Beamer, too? Or is she more docile and open to him?
Will she always be defensive and confrontational when she is pregnant, or will she sometimes be friendly and affectionate with Beamer?
This must be so interesting to watch. Lucky you.
I'm glad that Beamer is smart and staying out of her reach, and that Belle isn't trying to kill him, though.
Kai and Chicory are adorable together. Will he have a new girlfriend or gelding buddy at his new home?

Oh! And I forgot to say that that second photo is so cool. Beamer's stance and the action of Belle....awesome!

Lisa- Belle, like most mares, is quite receptive at breeding time. As soon as she squeals a little and pins her ears, you know that she is at the end of breeding cycle. She gets along well with Beamer so far; there were a few rounds of squealing during the night, and Beamer is learning not to whinny at her every time she looks at him. This is so good for him, and hopefully once he realizes that studdy behavior is not always welcome with other horses, it will make my trail riding much more pleasant.
Kai will be with a herd of 5 other horses.
LOL nothing like a little female disipline!
aww! felt bad for beamer getting booted. poor guy! but excellent video!
