Velvet, at 17 months, is officially taller than her daddy now; I measured her yesterday and she stands 14-2 and a half an inch. I started a little bit of ground work with her, sacking her out with a saddle blanket. Not an issue, and I hope to get lots more done with her this fall. I rode Chickory again and managed to get a couple of trotting steps- but it startled her and made her jump a little, then she wouldn't trot again for me. I'm still keeping my sessions really short with her.
Kai is leaving tomorrow for his new home. I'll be sure to take some photos; this will be his first trailer trip, I'll just have him follow Chickory into the trailer, and haul her with him to keep him settled.
Beamer and Belle have gotten quite cozy;

in fact, a little too cozy. Belle has been acting as if she is in heat, and Beamer doesn't really think so, but she has been teasing him. I've had mares come into a full standing heat during pregnancy, and I'm hoping that is what this is all about; but since I don't want to take the chance that Belle is not in foal, I've separated them since I really don't want a September foal next year. I might get her palpated to confirm that she is in foal, then I can put them back together again if she is.

So Beamer is back in his pen, Belle is by herself until tomorrow when Kai leaves, then she can go back with the herd.

Beamer throws some very pretty babies! I would love to breed my gray mare to him.
What a gorgeous girl Velvet is. I want to steal her away I have such a soft spot for roans, especially her colouring and sweet little face.
Texasnascarcowgirl, if you lived a little closer it wouldn't be a problem, but I don't do shipped semen- too expensive.
Poor Beamer.
next to beamer, velvet is my most favorite of all your horses:D
