Does anyone know what kind of bugs these are? I find them near wood and in my garden, although they seem to like the log border more than the plants. They hang out in big groups. They are quite small, that red thing is the runner from a strawberry plant, so that will give you an idea of their size.
Speaking of my garden, I'm still getting strawberries, in all stages of growth.
We haven't had frost here yet, which is good because I'm still waiting for my tomatoes to ripen. The maple leaves are just starting to turn color, but only on one of my trees.
I didn't get any color on them last year, we went from green to hard frost and no leaves.
The dogs say that any season is just fine with them as long as I keep throwing the ball for them.

Those strawberries look amazing! I'd go buy some, but they're not going to taste nearly as wonderful as yours are. Enjoy them while you have them.
The strawberries look soo yummy. We have had 2 good hard frosts here , so luckily I for once got it together and brtought my tomatoes in to ripen. No idea about those bugs other than ,I think they should stay there, don't want them here
The Strawberries are long gone here. The sun has slipped low on the horizon, and the temperature is dropping towards the low 40`deg`sF
I think your bugs are immature Box Elder Bugs (http://www.royalalbertamuseum.ca/natural/insects/bugsfaq/boxeld.htm)
They are really pretty...as far as bugs go!
Them bugs is Maple bugs my friend, haven't seen any here yet, you can keep them over there!!!
Got no idea about the bugs. The strawberries look amazing. Would love to eat them right off the plant. And do I love the color of that maple leaf! We don't get awesome color like that here. One day, I'm gonna travel north to see the changing of the leaves.
hmm look like what we used to call Stink bugs... do they stink if you squish them?
Wow is Sammi ever growing into a good looking girl!

I'm pretty sure the one in the middle is a maple bug but the others don't quite look right. Maple bugs show up in the fall. I kind of like them.
I'd say you've got some maple bugs in different stages. Unlike CCC I dislike them, especially when they try and live in my house.
You might want to pick your tomatoes and ripen them on the windowsill. Might be too cold for them now.
Don't forget to plant your garlic this fall, before the frost comes. Garlic needs to sit in the ground over the winter. Has anyone noticed how the price of homegrown garlic has exploded? Anywhere from $10 - $15 a pound.
So far these bugs have stayed in the garden area, not in my house. (In my house means death to all bugs!)
Thanks for the tip on the garlic, PMG, I was wondering if there was anything I can plant this fall.
Dogs are wonderfully simple like that :)
I wish strawberries would grow here. We just don't get enough moisture.

whatever the bugs, I don't ;ike them.
In New Zealand, we had a popular cartoon called Wal and the dogs. I think your dogs are the famous pair here.
Boxelder bugs. We have them by the bugload. They are harmless (unless you are a boxelder tree), they don't bite, and they are just a nuisance. When we bought our place there were about a hundred boxelders around the old dairy barn. Once we cut them down (junk tree) and cleaned that all up, the number of bugs went waaaay down. But they have a penchant for flying behind my glasses, and that I don't like.
