It warmed right up here, things are melting all over- it even rained this morning. Yesterday I went for a putt on Beamer, just rode down to the neighbor's farm and back; took the dogs too. When I rode into their yard, Beamer stopped and stared at all the unfamiliar things, like machine sheds with shadowy, horse eating combines and balers. I let him take his time and look, and we advanced one step at a time (good boy!). I could hear the snow start to slide off the roof, -I was riding bareback- so I took a handful of mane and shortened one rein, and when it whooshed, all he did was a half-spin, and stop and look. Good boy! The dogs all got to practice heeling as there were a couple of vehicles to deal with, and we had a wonderful outing. We went into the hayfield after, and the snow is a little deep for the dogs there-
so I didn't go too far. We did some visiting over the fence with the mares, and called it a day.
Not too exciting, which is just fine with me.

He was a good boy!
Ahh, always nice to have a "not too exciting" kind of ride :) Bareback in the snow, I am jealous :)
Nice quiet and relaxing is good! It is still cold here, it has been down below freezing now for the last five days. Brrr
Perfectly great! I love those nice calm rides...with encouraging little things that happen. Yea, your pups would have really had to work -in the depth of snow!
Haha - if I'd'a heard snow start to slide off a roof, I'd have bailed! because most of our horses would have been GONE! after depositing me on the ground!

Its always nice to be ready, even better when you're ready and they don't do a thing.
Its great when they dont do anything! just ride along, and take it really easy.
Hey, that IS exciting. Sounds like a great day to me!
It sounds wonderful...
I'm envious...
I want to take my dog with me, but he doesn't have the 'heeling' thing down yet...nor the come...nor the stay!
We're working on it!
That sounds like fun, at least if you fall off looks like there is enough snow to land in it would have been soft. The dogs sure look like they are getting a good workout.
Great minds thing alike. I didn't really get out but I hopped on Mattie bareback and we worked out some in the arena( I discovered I have very poor balance)she started worrying a bit about the snow sliding off the Greenhouses so I also had a good sized handful of mane....but she managed to control herself and I didn't have any problems. The dogs observed from outside the fence.
Good boy! I love riding bareback in the snow.
Playing catch up, glad you are having some nice weather. we got home last night to a blizzard, but all swell. love the winter wonderland shots!
