Soakin' up the sun

We're having such lovely weather -even though we had a snowstorm last Saturday!- that it really feels like spring can't be too far away. I spent some time out in the pasture today with Rio and the mares, they were just soaking up the sun and didn't want to play.
Doesn't Coyote Belle look just the picture of health? I so can't wait for this baby!
So here is a photo of Gussie today,- she is not fat, by the way-
and the one below, for comparison, was taken last May, right about the time we bred her. Hmmmmm.

Do you see what I see?
Ted swears she is pregnant.
The jury is still out.
Rio was the only one with enough energy to bounce around, but even he was more interested in seeing if I had anything chewable than in cavorting around.
He pestered Chickory a bit, and got TOLD.

I laughed at Rio wanting to bug the others... that's my Pippin!
I find it so relaxing to watch horses 'chilling'... well, maybe since they are soaking up the rays that's the wrong term!

Our snow is almost gone. Even though it's been warm, we've had lots of clouds. But today we got sun also. And not as windy.

it is a tough call, she is a big mare with a long underline. from today's pic, I would say yes, from the ones I saw before, no. Def looks "deeper ' through her flank than an open mare would.Beginning or end of May?

Gussie was bred May 12-16, so that would make her due in the last week of April.

Don't vets do "pregnancy tests"? Don't you need to know for supplements a pregnant mare needs? Or do they just eat normally? I know I had to (aah, was supposed to) take huge pills when I was prego. Which one is handsome Rio's mother again?
