Sunday Stills
Sunday Stills has gone to the birds... at least, that's what today's challenge is. This was a tough one, with grey skies and missed opportunities (like the bald eagle that flew over me just after I put my camera away). I managed a few shots of the gold finches at the feeders:
When I took Beamer for a ride yesterday, I spotted a couple of hawks in the trees. I snapped some photos but they were really uninteresting, just grey skies and snaggy trees with them just sitting still. So I left, and on my way home one of them swooped down close to me, looking for mice in the snowy fields. This time, my camera was ready, and I was lucky to be able to get a quick shot.
I thought about going to my archives, but I really try to meet each challenge every week without doing that.

Our resident hawks seem to take great pleasure in taunting me. "Look at me, I know you don't have the camera right now!" Great job with stopping the motion of the finches' wings!

I really like that second finch shot, especially the wings on the guy in the lower right corner.
Too darn cold for me to shoot outdoors this week so I had no choice but to go the archive route.
I love the hawk too. I took all the archives off my computer so I have to make myself get out and take pictures if I want to participate.
I thought your finch pictures were really nice until I saw the hawk shot. Holy cow that was a capture!!!
Beautiful pictures of the finches and the hawk! It's amazing at what you can walk out and get...and what you missed and could have gotten.
