Tuffy is really shedding his foal coat now. He is very growthy too being 12. 3 hh at the hip and just under 12.2 at the wither.
He is still a good boy and is learning to come when he is called. His feet are a work in progress, I need Ted to hold him while I work with them as he tends to walk away, or if it is his fronts he will kneel when I pick up the foot. That could be a good thing when he gets to be 16hh!
It will eventually shed all the red out but it's pretty cute for now.
We are near the tail end of summer here; the geese are starting to flock up, waiting for harvest time so they can glean the grain fields.
My heart goes out to all the folks who are affected by the fires west of us in B. C. where fire is still raging in the Okanagan as well as down in Washington State in and around Spokane. So far our area is good, we get a lot of thunderstorms that are keeping things wetter than usual here.
I made some raspberry jam; sugar free, sweetened with honey. We have a honey farm not far from us and I stocked up on honey for the winter. My veggie garden is doing great too- I am getting enough peas to last the winter, and the carrots and potatoes will soon be ready. I think I will freeze the carrots, I don't have any luck storing them.

Tuffy sure is changing! He is still very handsome! And those raspberries! Wow! The geese are already gathering. Sounds lovely. I am looking forward to that.
I’m glad you’re blessed with water up there. It’s no fun dealing with these fires. Another reason to look forward to fall. I was reading an article about summer in The Atlantic, and it began like this:
“Summer always overstays its welcome by about a month.”
That is exactly how I feel right now.
We were in Seattle the last 11 days and the skies are horrible and people were wearing masks. We coughed a little but refused to let it keep us in, we had geocaching to do and mountains to revisit. I had nightmares the fires in France would reach Germany and my housesitter would have to turn my horse loose to escape (like in France). Thankfully my animals are still here, but the grass is almost as brown as in Seattle, and the Rhein has almost completely dried up.
We dont really get to hear what goes on in Europe, didnt realise there was fire there too. I am glad your horses are safe.
Fof us it is more like the summer that wasnt. Last night there were more hail storms and flash flooding in some communities. Farmers here are scrambling to put their hay up between rainstorms.

Your flowers are amazing. I never had any luck with Poppies at our old place. I should try them here. They are so pretty. Nice build on the sturdy enclosure!
Our unwashed carrots keep well in a loose grocery bag. By themselves, in an extra veggie drawer. Not sure how long. We eat a lot of carrots and always run out. Maybe Dec? I wash a bunch to bring to the house, then store in a veggie saver container. My produce drawers are always full! We also freeze (chopped) carrots. They work well for soups etc. Enjoy your home grown carrots, they are the best!!

He’s such a nice looking colt. The fires are scary. I’m hoping there’s rain soon where it’s needed.
It always fascinates me how foals can change color like that. He is a cutie.
