The dyke can be seen in the background in these next two photos, it's that level snow line in the middle of the photo.
From the mare pen- although it looks like they are lower they are actually above the level of the dyke.
Looking downhill from the barn with Beamer's pen on the right.
Meanwhile, the snow has moved back in.... for the next week or so....
That meant photo op at feeding time this morning!
I think I needed a faster shutter speed!
Coulee
The horses look wet but they don't seem to be cold. The temperatures are right around the freezing mark, we might get some rain mixed with the snow.
I'm pretty sure the snow is deep enough thank-you-very-much!
I think Loretta is quite photogenic!
Mama Belle- I sure do love this mare!
Ok allright, I'll put your hay out now!

Send some snow our way!! This week we have temps forecasted in the 40s, one day as high as 53F - in WI in January - it's just not right! I love warm weather too, but something has clearly shifted when these are our temps in the middle of winter...oh well, I'll just enjoy the snow from afar in your photos :) I think Loretta is photogenic too. I do hope the river gets flowing in the right direction!
Boy, that river being so close would make me nervous! Hoping all goes well and the guys with equipment get things sorted out, even if the weather isn't cooperating. You're in my prayers. As far as your bad feeling about 2017 - there are so many people feeling that way. I'm not sure how I feel, but I do believe in what the Bible tells us through prophecy that things are going to get way worse, in fact, worse than what the world has ever known. Knowing that is the case, we need to place our faith in the One who is in charge. If we remain true and steadfast, we will be taken care of and our job is to be helpful, kind and loving to everyone we meet. Help out where and when we can, like you just did with your neighbor. Times are going to be tough for everyone, but we are to "cast our gaze on everything that is pure, lovely and good". That's not exactly how it reads, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Take care and keep your faith.
I hope they can get the ice jams. Hopefully the dike will do what it is supposed to and protect your property. pretty snowy photos:)
C-ingspots- yes, I don't sweat the small stuff, just try to be the best I can be and "Let Jesus take the wheel". I'm just glad I'm getting old.....
Our horses are feeling the same way. We also have record snowfall - for this time of year. We usually get like this Feb. through April, so we just got an early start, but the horses love it!
Love the pictures!

Gorgeous shots of gorgeous horses!
Horses love it around freezing Temps! I sure hope they get a hold of the flooding. I like to think we'll get an early spring because of the intensity of this winter! We are having many of the same issues you guys are, but added an ice storm two nights ago. Stay warm and safe!
So weird to see so much snow there when our has just about gone. I hope thy get the ice out and no more flooding that's gotta be the worst part about rivers.
gorgeous! And that Loretta is sure a pretty color
