Progress

The snow finally melted enough for me to get to work putting the straw down in the foaling pen. We had a lovely 6 ft. high bale of clean oat straw delivered ,

The ground is still a bit wet, but at least it isn't frozen, that moisture will soon sink into the sandy soil here.

All set up!  Velvet got a little worried at one point, she had a nap in that lovely straw bed and when she woke up she couldn't see the other horses, so I brought Gussie up so that she is right across the fence from her, then all was well in her world.

And none too soon.... look at that belly and how it is now V shaped; the foal has dropped bum low, which they have to do to get in foaling position.

Her bag isn't quite full yet, so we do have a bit of a wait yet! 333 days today and counting.

She might have a foal on my birthday!! Woot! Woot! I will be in Arizona, but checking in to see if I have a soul twin.

Wow, that baby is on the move and ready to see the world. Maybe your roan filly Eclipse will be born during the eclipse?!! That would be very unique and a total (partial eclipse) possibility!

So yah ~ just for fun ~ I am double dipping and making an **unofficial** guess that Velvet will have a Blue Roan Filly on Monday, April 8th at 12:46pm

Please keep my original guess for the contest :))

Linda- that would be ideal, as we are in the middle of a spring snowstorm at the moment. Velvet has icicles on her mane this morning- but the 11th is calling for a sunny day!
