The sun comes up and the sun goes down

We are getting into the monotonous part of winter .

As I look at the winter weather other parts of the continent are getting though, I feel blessed that we aren't covered in 5 ft of snow drifts or dealing with a raging fire.

The fire is in the sky in the morning sunrise

But not on the western side; this was taken only minutes before the eastern sky was aglow.

The evenings are just as pretty

Glowing on that baby belly!

And the skies in true form, rapidly change.

This is our automatic waterer that is accessible from 4 different pens- I love it! Especially when I recall all the years I had to fight with frozen hoses and frozen stand pipes and frozen heated waterers! Even one year in Creston where I had to deal with 200 ft. of hose, through the bathroom window and hooked up to the bathtub tap. Gah! Never again!!!

Its quiet here on the farm. Not a lot of excitement

Tom, hoping I leave soon so that he can sidle into the barn for his cat food.

7 more weeks until March and the onset of spring weather. We can do this.

Beautiful Sunshine! Yes, we are blessed not to have to deal with fires and storms…yet.

Automatic waterers are great. We dealt with hoses and extension cords the first year here in Spokane, and also filling up a 55 gallon drum at the neighbor’s dairy, and hauling it to the troughs. Those were CRAZY times where we broke snowfall records. It ended up being the 2nd snowiest (now 3rd) in Spokane history and we were completely unprepared. But we survived.

Gorgeous sunrise picture. I might have to try for a baby belly picture but I am trying to not get too excited, things can always go wrong. Glad you aren't struggling with a 200' hose thru the bathroom window, yikes!

I recall those days of hooking up to a faucet and running a hose through a window! Yikes!
Now it is 100 ft from the hydrant to the tank. At least I have a hillside to drain and lay out the hoses for the next time.
I would love to have an automatic waterer. But it isn't in the cards.
Such beautiful views you have!

Thanks for sharing your colorful views! When auto water works, it sure makes horse care easier and less worrisome.

We are experiencing such odd rollercoaster Winter temps, sans snow. Pales in comparison to what other areas are dealing with. It won't be long before the outside weather is more welcoming :)

Speaking of sunrises and sunsets, did you know that on the planet Venus, that the sun rises in the west and sets in the east? True fact!

Heated waterers are a complete game changer.
