Not about the horses- but this weather sure does affect them. This is what I woke up to this morning.
The thunderstorms we had during the night must have pushed the smoke filled air in - there are fires everywhere but up until today no smoke in the valley.
Clancy doesn't care as long as I fill up her feeder!
There is an old cow in the next pen, she is 12 years old this year and has been such a good producing cow for her owners that they didn't have the heart to ship her. For her swan song, she produced twins this year, nice healthy ones too. They keep her separate from the herd. Look at all the smoke in the air behind her.
Such a sweet old cow!

poor critters! we have that smoke too, and its unhealthy to breathe it. people are reporting that they get ash particles in their lungs.
We have had that smoke it is horrid. Yesterday was okay but it is back today. They are telling people to wear masks if they are outside. The forecasters are saying it will be around much of July. Lots of people getting sick. That looks like a good mama cow:)
Lovely old girl. Twins!
Ugh yuck so smokey, hope it clears soon, you need a wind to blow it all away.
I hate when cows have twins, specially out here pastures are too big, we sold our twin this spring worked well. Makes me wonder how old our white cow is, she has been here longer than me and I been here 11 years, no wonder shes looking old
The smoke is here in Colorado. It's amazing how far the wind pushes it!
We're a smokey mess here too. My vets office e-mailed their client list today to tell us not to ride hard with the air quality so low/bad. It warned against strenuous exercise, and said if you have to ride, ride smart and be wary of the signs you horses are giving you...
We're on standby to accept horses from the Cape Horn fire, but luckily it's looking less and less like we will be needed Thank The Lord!
We haven't gotten any storms to speak of here, but it's in the forecast again. Fingers crossed that we don't get any fires caused by lightning strikes if we do see the storms! Sure could use some rain!! (0:
Stay safe!
