Interesting challenge today- animals in black and white- and Ed said to try to find new 2 or 4 legged friends. I found a Barn Lion:

Sunny Sunday drive

What to do on a sunny Sunday? Go for a Sunday drive! After Mass I loaded up the dogs and went for a drive along the eastern shore of Kootenay Lake. I didn't go too far as I"m battling a chest cold so I don't have a lot of energy. The dogs were full of energy though! I found a spot to park and took the dogs down to the water, accompanied by a few thousand mosquitoes. It was swat, throw stick, swat, throw stick, etc. but after 10 minutes I'd had enough, and we headed back.

I grew up on the other end of this lake and have many fond memories of summers spent swimming, and soaking up the sunshine on the beach. If I had driven a little farther I could have found a nice sandy beach, but at least there were no other people here.

I also found the spot where the oil tanker truck that I mentioned in this post crashed and burned. He went over some pretty high cement barriers, down a very steep embankment that has train tracks below it. Burned some nice trees too.

Sunday Stills- Easter

Being Catholic, Easter is a time of great reverence and joy for me; it's not about bunnies and eggs and chocolate- although I do love my chocolate! The week before Easter we call Holy Week, culminating in Good Friday, and the remembrance of the Passion and death of Jesus. So my first photo is taken at our church, which is the Holy Cross Church.

And since Easter Day celebrates the Resurrection and the promise of new life, and hope, I can find it in God's great creation and the wonderful season of spring and all its beauty.

Since I chose not to do the Sunday stills Challenge this week, I played around with taking sepia photos because Ed left a comment on my Wordless Wednesday asking if I could do that shot in sepia. So here you are, Ed, hope you enjoy them!

Sunday Stills - Yellow

Today's challenge was a lot of fun; there's lots of use of yellow around farm animals and in nature!


One of the horses that works at the Auction market, waiting his turn to follow the cattle down the alleys.

My stock cane, which I decorated with my brand, hanging on a gate- yes, we had snow at the sale on Tuesday!

An Evening Grosbeak at 6 A.M. looking for breakfast.

Yellow always looks fabulous with red, as in this Strawflower;

and any colour looks great with black and white, according to Reba!

Happy Easter

Easter Sunday is the most important day of the church year for me. I also love that it represents hope, and renewal. It is so symbolic of spring with its new growth of plants, flowers, crops, trees bursting with buds and blossoms, new foals and calf crops. For some it is just a time for family to get together to share a long weekend. Mostly it is a happy time, and a great relief after the long winter- more so for us Canadians than my fellow bloggers in the warmer States like Arizona and Texas!

So, Happy Easter, one and all!

Sunday Stills- Animal Husbandry

There are many aspects of animal care, and everyone's unfavorite job is waste management- so this part of "husbandry" went to my husband!

And there is always a need for rodent control.....

and miss Marble does a mighty fine job of that! But my favorite part of animal husbandry is raising and selling good looking, good quality horses, like this mare; I sold her as a 4 year old. (her dam was a sister to Beamer)
