Sippin' lemonade!
I've been putting the horses out before 6:30 AM, and bringing them in earlier than usual so they can have shade in the afternoon, there is none in their pastures.
Had a little thunderstorm roll through and cool things off a little; I'd rather have a thunderstorm than the dust storms that are hitting Arizona! The neighbor got all his hay put up without rain this year. I'll probably buy bales from him, since I have two round bale feeders.
Now that the hay is off the field where I ride, I plan on ponying Chickory, to get her moving out. Specially after reading about the big bay over at Brown Eyed Cowgirl's blog, and knowing that Chickory is reluctant to move out with me on her back. So I'll just saddle her, and get on Gussie to pony her; Gussie is getting to be a real pleasure to ride, now that she is settled down. Once I get Chick moving out freely, I won't be so worried about getting back on her; I just hate that feeling of them being bound up and not wanting to move, it's like sitting on time bomb. Wish I had someone to get on her for ponying, after I've got her ponying well. Oh well, it'll all work out.

Just beautiful with your horse heading out towards the mountains! ...we have the George Washington kneeling by his horse print in our house. It is in our entryway and I love it.
I was thinking about building some sort of a dummy out of feed sacks and stuffing them with straw.
Hey, maybe your husband would oblige and get ponied around. lol. Isn't that what husband's are for?
BEC, I once saw a Monte Roberts demo and he had a dummy that he put on the horse.I've ridden Chickory, and she doesn't buck, just is really cautious about going forward.
Linda, Ted doesn't get on colts, I already thought of that!
SOunds like a good plan , no point in hopping on a powder keg if you aren't sure if there is a lit fuse
BEC, my neice KAtie does that , a volleyball head and coveralls stuffed full of something . he flops all over the colts and gets them used to things. They call him Wally
My Boy doesn't have shade in his pasture right now either. I move him to a ranch corral once in a while where there is a shed and he can enjoy chilling in the shade.
there were tornadoes that touched down in near sundre last night. environment canada said on news they will see if it was a destructive tornado. there was more than one that touched down.
we had howling winds in calgary last night, so powerful that in my kitchen, the stuff went flying off the table. frank shut the windows. but, no preciptation here. only high winds. system is moving into sask apparently.
I hate the first ride out too.......be a pillow and hopefully they won't blow! We could use a rain here but there's SO much hay down right now I can't even ask;)
