Sunday Stills

Birdstalking.... well, around here it isn't so much about stalking birds as it is about the dangIwishIhadmycamera moment... like yesterday when swans flew low overhead, and when the flocks of cowbirds and starlings wheel by in huge numbers, or the Magpie taking off from a fencepost... all those lost moments that are only in the photo album of my mind....
It was such a grey wet week that my photos aren't very inspiring, but here is what I got:
A common redpoll at the feeder
Coming in for a landing

A goldfinch sporting his new spring plumage

and a raven, annoyed that I disturbed him in his refuge from the rain.
And just for fun, one from my archives:
Ted looks a little owly, don't you think?

Love the landing shot and I love the goldfinches even though we don't see many around here.

Nice shots. Your finches are brighter then mine at this stage. They are my fav feeder bird, so pretty. How cool that Ted got to hold an owl, rehabbing?

Ya know....with the matching mustaches...they do kinda look alike! The goldfinches here in NY state are at the same stage of plumage change-over!

Wendywoo is right about the matching mustaches. :) I love bird stalking...it's a sign of spring and we really need "signs" about now. Otherwise, it's very hard to believe it's really here or will ever be here. Lovely photos!

Nice shots, specially coming in for a landing shot. I too think they do look a bit similar!

Great shots. I haven't seen any goldfinches down here yet this Spring. I need to hang the thistle feeder. :)
