This week, in honor of Ed's birthday, we are to post a photo from one of his challenges. Here is a link to my favorite challenge, the rule of thirds. This one really got me thinking about composition, and the second and third photos in that post were chosen for the local bank's calender- the third one was the cover photo. Instead of reposting, my photo this week is an ongoing example of how I continue to look for that type of composition on my photos.
My camera isn't working at the moment, so this is from my archives.
Taken on March 8th. It's much greener now! That is the town of Creston, nestled on the hillside between the escarpment of the Skimmerhorn mountains, and the Creston Flats where I live- the flats are land reclaimed from the Kootenay River by a system of canals.
I'd like to thank Ed and Linda for dreaming up the Sunday Stills blog, and weekly challenge- it has helped me tremendously in my photography.

Hope your camera isn't too sick:( I like this one....I like that sort of challenge too. Its been interesting seeing what people posted today....the sort of challenges they either liked or remembered.
Such a beautiful place. I bet your mountains are higher than ours. :)
Beautiful, I need to get a passport so I can get to BC and Alberta for some landscape shots..:-)
beautiful pics, and Happy Birthday Ed
I remember that challenge. It got me thinking too. I'm kind of a point and shoot kind of photographer so anything that makes me think about composition is a good thing.
I love your header. Don't know if I've said that before but it sticks in my brain. Beamer, his babies and you all right up there. Very cool.
I had no idea where the Skimmerhorn mountains are, so you and Google Maps educated me a bit this morning. Love the rule of thirds pictures too.
Sweet little town! What's wrong with your camera?
My camera just quit working, I don't know what's wrong with it. It's not the batteries, it turns on, but everything else doesn't function. Shutter button, zoom, nothing. And I have to take the battery out to turn it off. Bah! What bad timing!
I love the row of trees that are planted so neatly. I too thought that challenge was a good one.
That was a good challenge. Excellent example with this photo.
Glad Ted was able to fix your camera...terrible to be cameraless!!
I'm still trying to get my Ed's b-day challenge pics taken. I'm determined to do the challenge I picked - more to learn ;-).
