Sunny interlude

Looking out the window this morning, yesterday's sunshine is a distant memory. Did it even happen? Good thing I took photos....
Kai went home yesterday, there really was no sense keeping him here now that the owner's grass has come in (and my pens are so muddy!) He put on some weight and slicked out while he was here, and we worked on his manners. He's really a sweet boy and I sure hope they find the right home for him. Bloggers, if anyone wants a gelded 2 yr old son of Beamer here's your chance. He's ready for ground work, and should be able to get a few rides in on him this year.
The baby ravens are getting big- you can just see them poking above the twigs here:
Looks like there are two of them. I bet they will be flying soon. Mom and dad raven spend a lot of time feeding them; they go on the roof of the big shop and pick bugs out of the gutters and seams of the tin.

I managed to sneak a ride in yesterday on Gussie, gotta take advantage of that sunshine!
Once the weather smartens up I want to start hauling her. There are a couple of outdoor arenas here, and I hope to be able to find someone to go on trail rides with. Gotta get her in shape first though.
I spent the balance of  the afternoon burning a bale of hay- it was riddled with foxtail; and as I finished the last wagon load, the clouds and rain came rolling back in.
You normally can see the Skimmerhorn Mountains in behind the town from this view. (See above photo.)
Looks like I'll be hauling hay in the rain today; no sun in the forecast until Monday. On the bright side- I don't have to water my garden; although I may have to use the rough cut mower to get my lawn mowed next time, it's a jungle out there!
