Sunday Stills- Roads

Today's challenge is roads- very fitting, as they are of concern to many people right now, with evacuation notices in parts of my Province of B.C. due to flooding, and for those in the U.S. trying to escape the wild fires. This photo is a road closure where a raging creek washed out a road:
If you can't read the small handwritten notice, is says "Error 404 Road not found"
The water level here is reported to be at its highest for 50 years or more. I live on a road where there used to be a ferry to take people across the Kootenay River, and the ferry landing is now used for a boat launch. I rode Gussie down there a few days ago, you can see that the concrete pad for the boat launch is not visible.
Note to Ed: that's an osprey nest on the top of a power pole behind the trees on the far bank of the river.
The best roads are country roads as seen from the back of a horse.
It's not the road itself that is wonderful, its riding a good horse that puts it all in perspective.

For any of you folks in the U.S. who want to get away from the smoke and drought, c'mon up for a visit, if you head through the border crossing in Idaho, this is what you will see- the end of the road in the U.S. and the beginning of Canadian roads at the Rykerts/Porthill border crossing.

And for all us Canadians, it's Canada day, so here is a little patriotic photo of my husband on Beamer from  last year.

Great pictures. It's like we were a year ago. Now our pond is almost dried up.

Love the all purpose Beamer! What a couple of characters with your husband all dressed up.

LOVE the error 404 sign :-D. Great composition on the horse shot. This weather - everywhere - is crazy. We'd sure take some of your rain.

Happy Canada Day Ted and Shirley! Every Canada Day I remember the year you lived in Nordegg and we sang Oh Canada out on the front porch of the cabin. Thanks for the wonderful memory :)

Cool stuff! My friend manages the WMA just south of Porthill. Maybe I'll have to pay her a visit soon! ;-)

Super road shots and you were amazingly creative to get the road closed (error 404) signs! Good job.

We're pretty wet here too, but I think you've gotten us beat! I'd rather be wet than burning up though!
Love the picture of your boys! Happy Canada Day tomorrow!!

Great pictures.
It's wet on this side of the Atlantic too, a far cry from what they're experiencing in the western US.
And happy Canada day!
