I am a lot dissatisfied with blogger, there are some issues that haven't been resolved no matter how many times I post a question on their help line. I want to stop following some blogs that are inactive and every time I go to manage my reader list, it won't let me.
So I click there where I'm supposed to and this is what I get:
I've been getting this for over 6 months now! For one thing, I know nothing about Friend Connect and have never used it to my knowledge. I usually just add blogs to my Follow list using blogger's dashboard tools- but since they changed the interface, I can't even add blogs to follow! Very frustrating!
Is anyone else having this problem? I am seriously thinking of switching to WordPress but would like some feedback on that: can I import this blog or do I have to start a new one?
This photo of Beamer about sums it up:

LOVE photo of Beamer! Tooo funny! The picture is perfect regarding Blogger.
I'm with you...time to get rid of blogger....I have so much trouble with them I hardly blog anymore.Great shot of Beamer...that is some die hard Verbena you got there.
I got it from you Janice!
I agree. The help list is useless!
Have you tried the following?
Go to dashboard
go to manage readers list (Right hand wheel)
Go to settings
Hit stop following this site
I had one heck of a time unfollowing inactive sites also, until I figured this out without Blogger's help.
Good luck! I understand WordPress has its own set of problems.
Ian, that is exactly what I was trying to do BUT as you can see from the second photo, I don't get the list of the blogs I follow, so I can't go to settings etc. It seems to work for everyone but me. I am going to try it on a different computer, but I don't think it will help.
I had to go tot the inactive blogs and "unfollow" them one by one.For the moment I am doing well with blogger other than the odd pic that wont rotate. However you can export your entire existing blog to Wordpress(I actually have my whole blog backed up there in a private setting in case of another hacking or glitch. Just register with WP and somewhere in the dashboard there it offers the option. Just remember to let us know where you went
Hi Shirley! Yes I have the same issues with blogger as to getting rid of inactive blogs. Although using the stop following thingy, they still remain on the blog list!! I dont really want to move to word press, but?
What a shot of Beamer, sorry to here about blogger. I have been thinking of changing myself but haven't done it yet. I would ask Linda how she likes wordpress.
I manage my blogs subscriptions through Google Reader. Sorry to hear you are having problems with Blogger, so far I've been happy with it (knock on wood). It meets my needs and found it easier then Wordpress, which does everything under the sun! Good luck whatever you decide!!
A Beamer Razzberry for blogger. Just switch to wordpress, I've been with them for the past 4 years and only a couple of problems..:-))
YUP Beamer is right wish I could help. I am not good at that either. Hope someone knows I will keep checking your comments it could help us all. B
Love Beamer's photo..perfect for Blogger. Have you tried using a different search engine..sometimes Chrome would not let me change a setting in Blogger..but Explorer would. Firefox and Blogger combo sucked for me.
I have a Wordpress Blog..that appears in a local paper online..in my opinion Wordpress is terrible..worse than Blogger. The spam is unreal..good luck:)
You tell 'em Beamer!
i've never tried to unfollow a blog before, though i need to -- i have some inactive ones as well.
beamer is too cute!!
exactly how I feel about it too Beamer! I'm had blogger issues too over the past months and also considered switching to WordPress. Everytime I come back from one of my short stints away, blogger has done an update and something won't work. For a while there I was having to go to FireFox to get it to work because it was totally frozen up in IE. Very frustrating. So, if you move, just make sure you let me know where to! And I might follow in your footsteps if you like the new "home."
Hi Shirley, first of all I love you Sunday Stills with the dogs in the leaves. I think if you go to Wordpress, you have to start over :(
I have a couple of inactive blogs also, I'll try it and see what happens and get back to you.
i thought when frank spoke to you awhile back, and guided you through it, that it worked? i tried his advice again, and was able to get rid of the inactive blogs i was following. i'll have him call you again tonight, or tomorrow.
I haven't really clicked with Word Press, and even though I have some issues with this site I''ll probably keep on here. I try to just consider it a learning curve and I am on the low end...
Oh and you might just try a different browser- I use Chrome on one computer and Firefox on another and they each work a little differently.
I've not had problems with Blogger - do you view blogs through Reader? ...and Firefox works really well. It makes it a lot easier.
Sam
HaHa to Beamer's tongue! Love it. Blogger can be so frustrating. I think if you bring up your Blogger Reading List, at the top of the list, it has an "Add" button to add people you want to follow.
Today I tried to add blogs to follow- and I could- for the first time in months.
