The majority of the renovation work is finally done so now I can have some horse time. I can't remember the last time I rode! 2 months I think.
Coulee is home now, and of course that changed the herd dynamics.
First thing that happened was Belle and Loretta forming an alliance, while Roaslee did her best to get in good with her former buddy Coulee.
Coulee had something to say about it....
But they are pretty much buddied up again.
Belle has becone 2nd in command and she made sure Coulee knows not to mess with her.
Belle is putting on weight but still has a way to go. Loretta is boss, and she only has to squeal to keep the other mares in line, although she did have to physically let Coulee know just once.
Things settled down after the first day. Today was a nice sunny day and Shayla is in town so we saddled up and did some exploring.
This is the first time I have had Coulee and Rosalee out on a trail ride together. Rosalee was quite content to let Coulee lead, and I was happy to see how relaxed Coulee is on the trail. It was a really good ride.
We had a little fun taking each others picture 😊
We followed the dyke along the river, it is hard packed and a bit rocky but our barefoot horses did quite well on it.
We had Thea along for company- Tess opted to stay home, for the first time ever.
I am so happy to have such a lovely ride right out my back door! There is another place I can ride too, as the local farmer is giving me a key to the gate heading the other way up the dyke through his cattle pasture. Shayla knows trails there that will take me right up through town and onto the mountain behind Creston.

Glad your renovations are done, must really feel like home now. Herd dynamics are so interesting, glad they got it sorted out so soon. WOW, what a gorgeous place you have to ride!! It will make for endless beautiful photos & interesting rides!! Is the waterfront part of the property you just moved to? We wish we had a stream on our property, but all we could find was marsh covered land with not enough pasture. I was adamant about staying away from the river bank properties in our area, too many flood. I can't wait to see where these beautiful trails take you, lucky lady! SO happy for you!!
Yes this property borders the river.There is a dyking system all along its banks to prevent flooding.
What a different place you have to ride now! I am glad you are all settled and can relax some:)

Wow, you are blessed to have such wonderful riding places from home! I can only remember with fondness how we used to have those opportunities. I'm happy for you, and a tad jealous! :)
I haven't ridden in probably a month either, and that was the first time in likely a month. Full blown monsoon season has arrived and riding has been completely curtailed. I hate it.
Glad all your horses are home and together again, and such a good change in Coulee! Time and miles...
Glad all your renovations are finished and looking forward to the reveal. It's always so much fun seeing the different ideas and such that people come up with when feathering their nests.
Oh, and I second what Linda said - makes me want to move!
Miss Thea looks so much like her sister. I do envy your riding places this time of year.
