Busy!

It has been a busy week, we went to town and bought paint so I have been busy painting the walls.

I picked a colour from Home Depot called Dolphin Fin, which is much better than the peachy beige that the entire interior of this house came with.

Peeling off the 90's floral border- took 2 days

Cutting in the edges

First coat on the biggest wall

Yes those are fluorescent lights attached to the wall above the picture window.... 😒 They will be covered with a fabric (of my choosing) valance; that's my tomorrow project. I still have about 3 days of painting left to do, took me 2 days so far to do the dining room and 2/3 of the living room. Kitchen, long hallway and bedroom left to do, then I decide on if I have enough gumption left to do the bathrooms , one full and two half bathrooms. Then there is the mudroom.... . This is a big house!!! The 2 spare bedrooms will have to stay in their peachy boringness for now. Oh my aching neck!
Meanwhile, Beamer and Velvet have a long distance relationship, at least that's Beamer's perception of it.
I tried to put them together after Sophie left, which was fine for a short time, then this:

Yup sure looks like Velvet is in heat there! I watched for a bit and although Beamer was moderately interested he didn't try to mount her so it may be a fake heat; and she did try to kick him a little later. So, not wanting a late season foal (if Velvet is indeed not in foal already)  and also not wanting any injuries from kicking, I thought it best to separate them again.
Beamer did call for her  at first, so I put him in the pen the boyz were in for a couple of days - it overlooks the big winter pen that Velvet has to herself now.

He hollers for her, she hollers back and then they  go about their business.

He found the roughest old thistle patch to roll in!

After  couple days of that I had him stay in his original pen and he finally realized that he could still see her sometimes and she would answer when he hollered so all is well in his world!

My niece and sister are coming out tomorrow; archery hunt for my niece and I hope to get my sister to give me a hand with a few things like making curtains so tomorrow will be a busy day too! Good thing Sunday is a day of rest!

Not the 90s floral border!!! JK. I remember a time I liked those.

Grey is always my favorite color for both interior and exterior of homes.

I'd love to see photos of your home when you're finished, it would inspire me to spackle (?) and paint our living room which is full of holes after removing curtain rods.

Beamer sounds like the noises Black Beauty made - I guess they recorded a stallion?

Lytha- it's a green toned grey. I may take a little video of the finished project.

You have been busy, painting is a lot of work. Nice that you can update the house to your liking!

Looks like Beamer is throughly enjoying his new housing options. Did you hear if Sophie arrived okay?

Gray can be a tricky color to pick out. I got one once that ended up looking somewhat purple. But since it was a rental, I just went with it. Yours looks nice. Home improvement projects are always rewarding. And it seems there is always some kind of drama with horses around.

Painting is hard work, especially on the shoulders! I like the color you chose...and you didn't like the wallpaper imagine that! Always good to see Beamer even rolling in thistle:)
