There is always something going on around here. Fun stuff like a new batch of kittens to try to socialize; Misty had another 3 kitten batch, same as the last- 2 females and 1 male. My neice decided to take all 3 which is nice; they will be all together and be endlessly entertaining!

Ted built me an enclosed garden for my perennials.
The start of the project
It isn't really big, but it is plenty big enough for my 2 roses, and several other perennials, like the 2 scabiosa ( pincushion flower) that I decided to buy after seeing them on the 4R ranch blog.
A work in progress- we dug out the sod with the tractor and brought up a big bucket of composted horse manure, perfectly composted into topsoil. He built me a gate on that right side.
Time to add the wire mesh...
And done! I planted 2 Jackmani clematis to grow up the old garden gate that I found lying around and attached to the wall.
Done just in time, as we had a half dozen muley bucks stroll through the yard.
Hope that last one is still here in hunting season!
Last Friday I had cataract surgery on my right eye, what a difference! Who knew colors are so vibrant! Looking through my other eye now is like looking through a dirty window, so I am looking forward to getting it done soon too. Meanwhile I am not supposed to do much bending, lifting or working in a dusty environment so doing horse feet will have to wait another week. Rally and Patsy were really coming along well with trimming so I need to get back to that asap.

Cute kitties!! Wonderful that they found a home together. We adopted the same configuration of three, with very different personalities. Our male cat Leo rules. Wonder who will rule this trio.
Everyone I know who has had cataract surgery says similar. Take time to heal up. Your garden bed looks awesome!!

You have the most beautiful barn kitties! I'd keep them all. Love the new garden! Since you live in the wild kingdom, I imagine it is very hard to grow things and keep them safe from the critters. Glad to hear about your successful cataract surgery. Being an artist and photographer, your ability to see colors is kind of essential. Heal up!
I have a very ugly fence to keep the chickens out of my flower bed. I’m hoping to take it down once they get established. Yours is lovely.
I'm so thankful that we're surrounded by corn fields that keep the deer entertained. They don't bother our gardens (though I probably just jinxed myself by saying that). Oh, those kittens, I just want to squeeze them and rub my cheeks on their little fuzzy bodies.
They are getting snuggles now that they are out and about. Ted even had one purring!

Hope things heal quickly and well. I love your little garden! We have critters after our stuff too, although none with antlers quite that impressive.
the white washed type wood on the barn there, i like that. i'd like to have repurposed stained wood on our wall behind the tv.
Glad I don't have something that big wandering around in my yard (as long and the cattle, goats and horses stay out anyway). I hope the pincushion flowers work out for both of us. We will see next year if they make it through the winter. Cute kitties! They will have fun all being together. Prayers for quick healing.
