Bridge to Terabithia

Since Beamer has been a blog-hog lately, it's time to feature the girls. Their paddock is low in the center so all the water collects and freezes there which means that they can't get to their back pasture. Since I was cleaning out their bedding area I used the soiled bedding to build them a bridge. They were really happy to be able to get out and have some play time.

Chickory is the boss mare, being the oldest, and wasted no time herding them down the fence line. I wasa little surprised to see Velvet instigating the rough play with Sparkle, as it's usually the other way around.

Maybe she is starting to realize she has a size advantage over Sparkle.

They were all cooperative in posing for me.
Short and chunky, Chickory is built to work a cow, I can't wait!

Velvet has a pretty little dish face that you don't often see on Quarter Horses.

Sparkle might have a plain brown wrapper, but I think she is a pretty girl.

She reminds me a lot of Beamer when he was that age. I'm thinking she might have to go into reining training in a couple of years.

Was that entire paddock frozen?! gah! Looks like you might want to teach the girls how to ice skate. Maybe Beamer could teach them. He is talented, that boy!

Velvet is so petite and pretty. Looks like there was an Arabian somewhere in her genetics.
I love a bay horse. Sparkle is beautiful.
And Chicory...wow! She's built like a brick....well you know what I mean. Solid!

Nice to see a post about the gals....but I can't get enough of Beamer.
:)
Have I ever mentioned before that....I love Beamer? hehe!

Velvet reminds me a bit of my sister's Mustang filly (in color.) It looks like they are feeling the winter friskies. As beautiful as snow is, it sure makes a mess when it melts off, eh?

Tara, I'm undecided as to Velvet. I'd love to keep her and do working cowhorse with her, and I know she will be the kind of horse that is easy to get along with for anyone; she is really sweet natured. If I do sell her, I'd be pretty picky as to where she went. Ted's been bugging me to get down to 2 horses, and I keep saying no way! Sparkle is for sale, although it will probably be a year or two anyone will want to buy her; I figure to start her under saddle next year, and sell her as a started horse.

Lisa, there are some lines of quarter horses that have that type of face; Velvet's great grandpa, Blueboy Quincy, had that type of head. He was really gorgeous! No Arabian in the bloodlines.

That's one scary lookin' ice lake...give me the shivers...you know me and ice!

But the girls are sure growing and lookin' mighty fine! And in my eyes, color has nothing to do with a horse.
