The farrier came this morning. The girls got a lesson in standing tied at the hitching rail; note to self- the yearlings need lots of this! Look how big Velvet is next to Chickory- that's going to be one big girl! While they weren't terrible for the farrier, they did a lot of fidgeting, so I know what I need to work on for the next six weeks. I promised him they would stand better for him.....
Here are what Beamer's hind feet look like now.
Right hind
Right hind (I gotta remember to move that dang camera strap out of the way!)

The farrier showed me where to rasp for maintenance to keep the flare down, so I hope my boy will have improved feet this year.

they look like old hands tied there! Young ones are always fun for the first few trims
i remember when you used to show me how to clean horse hooves many moons ago:D think i was 10 years old or younger:D of course, i had to try the salt lick:D hee hee hee:)
Looks to me that they are doing well. One of our first trims but a complete rodeo.
Always makes me feel good when Dusty gets his trimmed!
They look so little now. I love fresh trims. Mattie always looks like she has dainty little feet when she is first done.Who did him and did they say anything about the bruising.
I'm delurking just to say...I love your blog! Best Horse blog EVER! :D I love it!
I have lots of work to do to on getting my horses to stand better also for the farrier and the vet. Hope the hoofs look better for you!
Looks good! Feet in snow are always so interesting to me. Don't see a lot of that where we are :)
Thank you, Jennifer, I always appreciate that I have so many people reading my blog, it's rather humbling.
