Well, after spending New Years alone, and not having Janice come team sorting with me today, I got to the arena and it was really lonesome there. Not a soul showed up! (Just me 'n'B-boy), so I spent over an hour schooling. And- Woo-Hoo! I got my flying lead changes! We had a great ride, nice lope departures, lovely spins, and worked on some of the stop and turns on a direct rein that I need for learning cutting. Horse knows all this stuff, I just need to learn how to put it all together.
Beamer had to inspect the roping dummy. He tells me that he really does not want to be a rope horse, he prefers playing cowgames. Suits me! However, I think that when Velvet is old enough, I'll be swinging a rope from her; her mama was a natural with ropes.

Well you can never be really lonley with a good horse , but I bet it would have been nice to have had the company .Especiually your honey home for New Years. Maybe next time
Well all I can say is dam and double dam.
Wow! What a great way to start the New Year anyway! Beamer looks gorgeous. No hairy yak head (like my mare) for that boy. No sireee!
I'm glad you had some great schooling with your boy and sorry you were feeling lonesome.
If it's any consolation, I was lonesome for my hubby too.
He has been stranded in Jamestown, North Dakota with a broken down truck and -50F degree with wind chill temps. He woke up when he realized that the air vents were blowing frigid air on his bunk! Brrr!
He slept inside the reststop building last night, but tonight he was given a motel. It seems there are no towing companies anywhere near where he is. What a dilemma! And with a truck load of Samuel Adams in the trailer, too!
Thank goodness the refrig. works back there and alcohol doesn't freeze solid! gah!
Happy New Year to you!

At penning clinic the heel-o-matic was still in the arena. It sure did cause one horse there a LOT of grief. She was sure it was some demon/monster. lol
Perfect practice makes perfect, I am told. You are so lucky to have an arena to work in. I wish I had an indoor but that is ok. I go to my bosses place and ride when I get a chance the only I hate is all they do there is dressage, very little western. But I do that for fear issues and before my new year is over I will be at home back in my western saddle!
Nice arena! If you gotta be lonely, a nice horse and an inside place to ride would be the way to go ;-).
It's great that you've got an arena to go to (when you can get there)! Sounds like you two had a great ride and are really coming together...I bet he's somethin' else!
