Playing in the snow

We got another blast of snow today, and I'm happy to report that my little birds did indeed tell their buddies about the free groceries over at Diamond Lazy H - there were a bunch of them all squabbling over the best position at the feeder:

This poor little fellow not only got kicked out, he had some snow landing on his head:

It was fun watching them; I made sure to keep the cats inside while they were feeding.
I did put up another feeder today, now that I have enough birds to warrant it. Third winter here, and this is the first time I've had birds to feed. About time they found me!

The snow finally quit around 3 PM, so I fired up the old Kabota tractor and plowed for almost 2 hours. We have a fairly large yard, so it's time consuming. I got to thinking :
You might be a redneck if:
Your wish list for when you win the lottery is topped by one of these:
Having been a snowplow operator for over 16 years, I love plowing snow- but the tractor I use is so worn out that every time I tilt the bucket, I have to use both hands to hold the linkage together. Sigh.

I often have wished for machinery too! Not very often a loader, but I guess it would work too.

I was feeling bad here cause seems like everyone but me puts up bird feeders and then today I seen a bunch of birds eating off the ground where oats were spilled, so I guess we do feed the birds, just not in a feeder.

Great bird shots.I guess I'm a redneck but it's not a tractor or loader I want. I think I could make short work of this monster yard with a Bobcat.....

After plowing our big yard with a lil' Ford tractor for years, I finally caved and bought a plow for my truck. It's wonderful! It has heat and a radio and heat!

I operated loaders similar tho this in my years on the highways, and there isn't much I can't do with one of these babies- plow snow, build driveways, landscape, move bales, move sheds, .....

You're amazing! You operated heavy machinery? I knew we passed the redneck test when my husband wanted a new tractor for his 50th. We were out taking pictures with him on it and he was smiling from ear to ear--it hit me--most guys want a sports car for their 50th, but my husband wanted a Kubota! Love it!!

Great shots of the birds, Shirley. Watching the birds at our feeders is definitely one of my favorite pastimes over the winter. Too funny about the tractor - love it!

Love the wing shots of the birds flying. And, yes... you are a redneck, but I wish for a horse trailer and truck. So I guess, I am too! :)
