Out to Pasture!

Peppy is learning how to lead; I made this little halter because I couldn't find one small enough for babies. This was his second lesson, and he willingly followed mom. They have a nice big field to roam around in, with enough old grass mixed with the new that it is coming in slowly, so I don't need to worry too much about founder.

Peppy obligingly posed for a picture.

Gussie was happy to get out and stretch her legs.

I put Sassy in with them and they happily galloped around for quite a while. It must have felt good!

They finally settled down and went looking for grass. Tomorrow Coyote Belle gets to go out. She was quite certain that she should have been out today too...

But I didn't want them all roaring around at once. She'll have to wait!

Great pics! He is just a cutie! That is it I want a baby! I am waiting to bred my mare, since Savannah is riding her. He is just a cutie, please give him hugs and kisses from me! His momma looks like our red roan gelding!

Thanks! I have raised a few babies, and this one definitely is big on the cute factor! He has a neat personality, he's a lot like his daddy. Gussie does look like your gelding, only she's not as itchy!

I've always regarded galloping horses in a field as a symbol of freedom, which would explain why I love that fourth picture.

Peppy looks a little shy in that first picture:0)

Tom, if you ever rode a horse, you would get an even greater sense of the freedom that horses give us. Try being on the back of a horse, galloping over a field, the wind blowing tears in your eyes, the pounding of the hooves matching the beat of your heart. And even as beautiful is riding quietly through the forest, one with your horse, absorbing the beauty that God has given us.
To quote Winston Churchill, "the best thing for the inside of a man is the outside of a horse".
I love them.
