I've been taking a lot of sky photos this week, as Big Sky is the subject of this week's Sunday Stills Challenge, and have a couple to share that won't make the Sunday post.

Anyway, back on earth here, I touched up Beamer's feet, and still can't get rid of those hairline arches and the dish on the front :0( .
Tara gave me advice on what to do, but I don't think I'm confident enough yet to do rim notches, I think that will have to wait until May when she comes out for the next barefoot clinic. But I can work on filing the flare down.
The day is set for bringing Nitro here- Sunday afternoon! Can't wait to see him again! Here's a reminder of just how cute he is:

The header comes up for me, then it disappears into blackness. Weird! It's a great header, though! Any photos you post of Beamer make me smile, can't help but think "The Black Stallion Returns" when I see them.
Is anyone else having the problem with the header disappearing?
Karen- I'd love to see Beamer in the movies! He'd be great, he's really easy to pattern.
Could you explain what you mean by "rim notches", I have never heard the term and I am curious what it means. I have had good results in eliminating hairline arches and dishing by addressing heel length. If I can get the heels in good enough shape that the horse is consistanly landing heel first every time, the arches and dish begin to correct themselves. I have been using Pete Ramey's trick of adding just a bit of a bevel to the back of the heels and I see almost immediate results. I often see a noticable improvemnent within two weeks.

your header also goes dark after a few seconds...very strange, and really too bad because your header photos are great. love the sky pictures, too -- they are really something. the jet lines are great. glad you ar reuniting with rio.

Well I'm glad other people get the same thing with your header I thought it was just me. I tried to phone you the next day to say it was still doing it.Mine seems ok.Great photos.It's a good thing Rio coming home....even if it is just for awhile.
One of my favorite things to do and that is take sky pictures. I have been a little lax in doing Sunday stills. I have even been lax in blogging. Things seem a little boring, so I don't take pictures and try to think of things to write about. Nitro sure is growing and looking better every time I see a picture!

My guy has those notches too...never thought anything of them though!

You can't expect his feet to be all perfect in a short time. Some of it has to grow out. Just keep checking those angles and keep your toe breaking over well and it will come. Agree with dancing donkey to bevel back of the heel a little. I also like to bevel all round a bit, and put in those slight quarter arches too. Is the arches in the quarters what you mean by rim notches? Like Dancing Donkey I haven't come across that term before.
That first shot is really nice..we have had clear skies or grey skies all week no inbetween..no interesting clouds...so my Sunday Stills will be boring. It will be good to see Nitro again:)
