It was kind of like saddling up an old broke horse.
Stepped aboard without a warm up, and headed out.
No muss, no fuss.
As you can see from the video, Rio seems to enjoy getting out. He was so well behaved. No silliness. Cars going by? No problem. The other horses calling? No issues.
Good boy, Rio!
Some of you may remember that I offered him for sale via my blog as a weanling, $500 off the mare. Well- now, I wouldn't take $5000 for him. My husband loves him, in fact he has always been smitten with this colt, and I can really see them becoming a team once I get Rio more experienced.
We have another trail ride planned for the weekend, as long as the weather isn't too bad. If I can get 3 or 4 good rides in him every week, I think we'll be ready for the clinic in January.

He is such a good boy, and so beautiful!
Sure sounds like a good one! Perfect horse for you and then Ted, the more I ride broke horses, the less I wanna ride the unbroke ones and now I don't have any so its perfect. But I am sure at one point again will have another young-en and I hope its as nice as Rio.
Was gonna say if you need a place to stay when driving horses around, you are welcome to stop in, we always have room for company :)
Wonderful! what a great colt
Good breeding, good early handling and good starting go a long way . . . what a fine horse you have there.
Perfect! He is beautiful inside & out. Interesting to hear you pronounce his name, I had it wrong.
What a beautiful boy with a nice heart and mind to match. :) Beauty can only take you so far, it's the mind that matters and it looks like Rio has a good one!! I'd definitely take him in a heartbeat if I could! (Also, I LOVE your brown tack on him!)
He's fabulous!
Loved the video ...the sound of hoofs , the dogs, great horse, beautiful scenery...doesn't get much better than that.
He has the sweetest, gentlest look.
What a good boy! Wish my girls didn't respond when the others call them!
He is not only a handsome boy-he is awesome! Gotta love a horse that can leave their friends behind without a fuss.
Hi there!!! Thanks for the nice sentiments over at my place towards my missing( in ride action) time off!
Look at that RIO!! Not one of us had cause to think anything but this end for him...be it at my place in the mountains of Oregon or there with you. His mind is sound, breeding, handling, starting- all to make him what he is today! I am glad it worked for you keeping him too, though I truly did want him back then.
LOVED the easy paced walk there in video! Looks nice there at moment..have fun and, RIDE ON!
KK
