When I was doing morning chores today I spotted an unwelcome sight:

The fires in California have me spooked, I have been watching the horrific videos and the devastation is so heartbreaking. Now, I was pretty sure this column of smoke was just a controlled burn across the river, but I had to investigate since it's right in line with the farm.
Beamer got the call to duty. I didn't want to pull Gussie away from her morning feed as I'm pretty sure she would have had a bit of red-headitude about that and Beamer wasn't super hungry since he still had a bit of hay left from the night before, so I bridled him and hopped on bareback to go investigate.

Sure enough, it was across the river and probably up in the hayfields, maybe burning old hay or brush. But hey- it was a good excuse for a frosty early morning ride!

There wasn't a fire was there?
sorry, mean, its not wildfire?
Glad it was not a big fire out of control. Yes California is burning up :(
We almost had to evacuate a couple of years ago for one near us. All the neighbors pitched in and got trailers ready to go to help anyone who needed it. In California, it appears they didn’t have time. I truly hate fires. I posted about it last summer. Every August, we are completely smoked in. In our case, it is because they shut down the logging industry and there’s too much fuel. The forest service could never remove all the fuel by themselves. I hope they figure out a solution.
But at least you got to ride your boy.
Can't blame you for being wary of smoke. I remember you had it come closer then comfort more then once at your last place. Gave you a reason to chalk up another riding day!
