We're on the move.
The photo in my Sunday Stills post was the horse shelter Ted built for me a couple of years ago; we sold it to a place just down the road that has a riding arena and horse feed business as well as boarding horses. Half of it will be made into a tack room.
We have decided to move back to Alberta to be closer to Ted's family, as his Dad is in his declining years. He had a stroke last month and his heart is weak. He will be 89 this year. Ted's son and his daughter and their families are both in Alberta, and when we move there it will be easier for my daughter to visit, as we will probably be only an hour from the airport instead of nearly 6 hours.
So for now, even though we enjoy this beautiful area with its mild weather (I have to mow the lawn for the third time today) as compared to Alberta (it's snowing in Calgary as I write) family comes first. The plusses are it's closer for Ted's family, and it's right in the heart of the horse industry for me, as well as being closer to the other half of the Diamond Lazy H herd at Shayla's. I'll be able to help her at foaling time and help with the training of the foals.
As far as the horses go, Sophie is in heat and will be bred to Beamer this week, and I will check her back in June. Hopefully she will catch on this breeding as it will put her foaling time right about the same time as all Shayla's mares for next spring.
We have a potential place lined up to move to, for July 1st which works well for my sister and brother in law, who , once we decided to move, put this farm up for sale. It's a hot market right now, so it won't last long before it sells.

Wow, this is a big change! I saw your SS post, but can't reply from my phone. I was going to stop back and comment that it looked like someone was on the move, and ask if Ted was building sheds for sale. Never once did it cross my mind that it was you guys moving, or that was your shed.
Sorry to hear about Ted's fathers health declining.
I am sure it is bitter sweet to leave your beautiful place, altho for a very good reason. Home is where the heart is. You seem to roll with the many changes life hands you. I wish I could.
Oh the Forget me Nots on little Merle's grave are beautiful. I understand the need to be near aging parents. It is wonderful that you support Ted and I am happy that you will be close to Shayla and the horses. I hope the move goes well for you and Beamer and Ted:)
i have mixed feelings. mainly because im super sick, and we're in the middle of a move, and i won't get to see you this spring, even before you move unlesss my chest infection goes away. which is unlikely because it lasts for months. i hate pneumonia. but on other hand, i'm also glad for you, and ted. i love alberta, wished i had never left.
if i ever win any large amount of money, i'm buying a house in calgary. its my home, and my 💜city.
Aurora- my whole life has been fluid. Even as a child we moved from place to place, following the work my dad did, and Ted and I have done the same, going where there is work- and now, for the sake of family. I don't mind change at all.
for some of your american readers, calgary is affectionately known as, "cowtown" 💜😊

It is no doubt easier when a person is used to change. I know several people that live for it and change things up frequently. Looking forward to reading about the transition to your new place. Best wishes for a smooth move! Keep me/us posted.

Oh wow, Shirley! Big move, and for good reasons. It is important to be around family. We would have moved south long ago, and to a better state for our sanity, but we stay put because of family, too. Im excited for you, and can’t wait to see where you land. I think you’ll really enjoy being nearer to Shayla and the other horses, and you’ll have so much to write about.
Big move indeed and it makes good sense. I know the cold isn't the favorite but I for one will be pleased as all get out to welcome you home my friend. And maybe we can book Andee in for a breeding next year, I always thought Beamer would be the ideal cross with her
Sherry- that would be a really nice foal! Beamer doesn't have many breeding years left; he's 21 this year.
