Building a foaling pen

Since Coyote Belle is about a month away from foaling, today I decided to set up her foaling pen. I cleaned a section of the run in shelter- of course, I had help!

Want us to empty that for you?

On three now, lift!
Little rascals! I got the corral panels set up and bedded it in straw. I'll be putting Belle in at night from now on. I put her in to feed her grain; I think Chickory was jealous.

Speaking of Chickory, yesterday I brought her out and saddled her up then toook her around the yard to eat fresh grass.

She doesn't mind the saddle, no buck, just jumps a little when I slap the stirrups around; normal coltishness.
I've got some other news I'm just bustin' to tell you, but it'll have to wait till later!

Sherry, yes I'm starting Chickory myself. I'm booking time in my neighbor's round pen so I can get to work on her. Now that her wolf teeth are pulled (they were big ones!)she can start wearing a snaffle bit, so it's time she put on her big girl pants! How about Andee, any plans for her?

I plan to do some light work with her while MArtin decides whether or not he is keeping her. I tend to wait till they are 3 to start them in earnest , though Andee does seem to have good bone. I have a 3 yrold to focus on first , then we will see. Both Cat and Andee will be in some sort of "school" this year with me though

Indigo is so funny. She loves to come inside to eat grain but go back out for her hay. If you leave the door open she sneaks into the stall to see if theres anything in there.

The late afternoon sun really made Chickory's color stand out, didn't it?
I'm hauling her to the round pen tomorrow- school time!
