This is what I don't like about Chickory.
When it was time to take the fly masks off, I walked up to Gussie and Belle, no problem. Chickory, on the other hand.....decided that she preferred to run around the corral....
despite the heat and high humidity......
for nearly half an hour....
and still wouldn't let me get a hand on her. I kept her away from the rest of the mares. She showed me some stylish cutting horse moves when I blocked her. After 25 minutes of this silliness, I finally resorted to grain, which she wouldn't come near until Belle and Gussie had some first (Like the queen having her slaves taste test first to make sure it wasn't poison!)
Finally I walked up to her and calmly took the mask off. Then I went and phoned someone I know who might be interested in her and is coming over tomorrow to have a look at her. I hope she sells; I can't abide a horse that isn't easy to catch. ( I did tell him about this behavior.)

Well she was having way too much fun keeping you at bay, eh?
Good pictures though!
So frustrating!! She sure looks good though
Wow! You are a woman of action. Thirty minutes and I might be making a few calls, too. ;)
Sorry...I had to laugh...You are far more tenacious than I. I'd have walked off and left the darned thing on her.
Yeah, I'm with BEC, I'd have left it on. I'm way too lazy to chase a horse for 30 minutes. lol.
I've been there... and I'm stubborn too. Otherwise it just gets worse. Lucky for you she was in a corral. Had to play the "I'll catch you if I die trying" with my mare once in a 40 acre pasture.
I`m with you on this one Shirley, cant abider a horse that wont be caught!
It made for nice photography... Maybe she is a bit of a diva? :)
Margaret, she just has her own agenda. She is the suspicious type to start with. As long as everything we do is part of the daily routine, she is easy to catch, or if she thinks there is food involved. As soon as something is different, she gets the wind up her tail and is very stand offish.
Im with you cant stand a horse who wont be caught either. And expecially if there are more than one like that then they take off together. My Belle is suspicious like that, but since all my others are soo easy to catch she just sticks around and suprises me a lot.
Grrrr...sounds exhausting to say the least. They were good pictures.
I get ya Shirley, I don't own what I can't catch.
Amen.
