Getting out for a walk

There is an old saying, make hay while the sun shines. Well, it isn't haying season but the sun was definitely shining today! So I headed down to see what Sophie had to offer today.

I was surprised that she didn't just turn her head and neck away from me and walk away!

Hmmm... soft eye and she seems to be okay with the proximity of the halter....

Imagine that! I was quite pleased!

I spent a little time just getting her to relax with being touched. Then since it has been a couple of weeks since I took her for a walk, that's what we did. This time it was up onto the road so she could get used to all the sights and sounds of the neighbours.

Alert but not spooky

Up onto the road- one car went by but she didn't pay it any attention.
Then into our yard where we checked in with Ted in his shop.

Wanna come in?

She would have, too! She made a step towards the door to come in but I had to back her out- no room for a horse in there! Love that she was willing though.

Off we went making tracks in the snow around the yard and back to the barn. She was nice and relaxed, happy to get out.
Supposed to be nice again tomorrow so hopefully we can have another session.

Good for you and Sophie! This snow will be here for awhile, so it’s good to keep going.

i really like her. she has a nice personality. did former owner say why she has such a big scar on her forehead near her left eyebrow?

M- it's not a scar, just a place where hair was missing and it has grown back darker. She likely rubbed it off on her 13 hour trailer ride from Saskatchewan to ALberta.
