Just for the beauty of it as we await those days when we can plant and grow our own flowers.
Ted bought me this Hellebore plant for Valentine's day. Also known as the Christmas Rose, it blooms late and in cold weather. I plan to plant it on Merle's grave. It says it will survive up to -20 C and we rarely get that cold here, usually - 16 or 17, at least in the last 5 years.
I bought Ted these tulips the other day- Just Because. Because I like the cheerful colour, and because flowers make him happy.
They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder... sometimes it's in the eye.

Great light on your cheery photos! Helleborous grew well for me at our old place, they are hardy. I noticed mine took a while to establish. Might have been the location. I transplanted both of them here last year, hope they take!! Your thoughtful plant will grace Merle's grave beautifully <3
Aurora- good to know it can survive your area! These photos are taken with my phone. it is adequate but fails miserably when I try for things like the full moon sinking slowly behind the mountains.
We were always zone 4, now I guess our area falls under zone 5a. I have easily had my first Christmas Rose for over 10 years. Mine didn't spread, the clump just gets bigger and flowers more.
My phone can't capture the moon either (always a white blob) it's not good overall in the dark. I guess the newest iphone camera has astrophotography capabilities. I might look into that someday. On a related note, I looked specs up on the camera you are thinking of getting - very impressive!!
