Blanket time

Well, Peppy isn't the only one who came down with a cold- Coyote Belle and Sassy also have snotty noses and a cough. Chickory seems OK so far, as does Beamer. So I blanketed everyone except Chickory, because it's so cold here that they can't fight off a cold and stay warm too. Peppy was shivering this morning- no surprise as they aren't acclimatised to this cold; it has been mostly above freezing, then a sudden dip to -26Celcius (that's -15 Farenheit). Beamer was shivering under his blanket, so he got a polar fleece liner under it. They have free choice hay and a heated waterer, so there's not much else to do except let it run it's course. Blah!

I'm so sorry you're dealing with colds! The weather there sounds miserable. We had high winds out in the county today, but here in the valley it's been relatively mild.

I love your header, btw...your boy is lovely!

Our horses were huddled behind the windbreak all day. I feel sorry for them out there but I guess they'll just have to get used to it.

Thanks Tracey; Beamer thinks he's quite something too!
Linda, normally I don't blanket, but since they're sick I do. I'll take the blankets off when they are better.I hate vet bills.

With any luck this cold snap will break the cycle with the colds/snotty noses. I always find we get more "bugs" in the warm humid weather. Though now that they have it its kind of rotten that they have to fight the cold as well. Oh well Alberta winters.
