Kai is now registered, I got his papers in the mail a couple of days ago. I'm sending away to the U of C Davis vet genetics lab for a DNA kit to get a genetic map of his color. AQHA registered him as black, and when he sheds out he will be basically black, but dilute.

He has black poking through all over; in a couple of months he will look completely different.
Thought I'd show you a couple of photos of his mama, Coyote Belle. She has some rather unusual markings.

First, on her forehead, she has the Star of David. And on her haunches.....

more stars! She has a whole bunch of these buckskin colored stars. I might have to name her next filly Belle Star.

While we're on the subject of hind ends, how do you like this line-up?
I had to add onemore photo......

since we're talking about pretty hineys....

He's getting big in a hurry - wow! The stars on Belle's hiney are super cool!
Love all those beautiful hind ends - and that's a very handsome foal!
Nice ponies!! So what exactly is a black dilute?? would that be like a grulla?
I've never seen stars like that, they are pretty cool. And the linup shot is neat, nice of them to cooperate for you.
Interesting markings!
