Josie's training is coming along nicely, she doesn't mind getting the halter on, and is starting to lead well. Remember- I'm in no hurry, and want to make each session a positive experience. So I put the halter on, then let her share the morning oat bucket with Stella while I clean their stall.
After that, I do a little work with her allowing me to touch and pick up her legs. She is pretty defensive about her legs, but I make a little progress every day. Today for the first time, she let me hold her foot by the toe- this is a big step! I am working on one leg at a time, so a couple more days with her left front and then I'll do the left hind. I want to work the legs one side of her body until she is comfortable with having them handled, then start on the other side- it will probably be like starting at square one. I do, however, work both sides of her body as far as leading and flipping the rope over and around her. She is a smart little girl, and we make a little progress every day. She's getting really light with giving to the rope around her rump:
My goal for this filly is to get lots of groundwork done on her by next summer, after which she will be for sale.
Anyone want to call dibs?

What a sweet girl. She will make someone an awesome horse one day. You are doing all the work now! Good job! Ground work is where it all starts. As soon as they hit the ground. :)
Love her breeding and her appearance - I love those "plain" packages! I'm too old for a baby, but if I were younger . . .
Such a nice last photo! She's gorgeous.
I really like her registered name. And her perfect red color. (0:
Hi Shirley!.....She looks really well put together. Lots of potential there.
She sure is a snappy looking little thing! I love those redheads! Laughed a bit about making haltering a good thing, I did a lot of that with Harley , used to say " if you wear the pink hat(no one knows why pink or why I called it a hat) there is a treat!" Usually haltered him then led him to his grain mix so leading and work was always rewarded, no halter , no munchies . (he did not test that theory too often lol
What a beautiful redhead she is! That little white snip on her nose is just made for kissing! :)
She sure is a cute little girl! I am agreeing with everyone, she should be an easy sell
