I checked her out, rode her, asked a bunch of questions, and loaded her up and we were home by 7 PM. Long day!
The only real issue I found with her is that she needs to learn to stand still for mounting, but that's fairly easy to teach. She is responsive to leg and rein, has the basics of the spin, sidepass, etc. and a nice stop and back up. Smooth too. She does need some fine tuning, but at 7 years old and having had a year or so off to have a foal, I don't have any problem with that.
What I really like is her attitude, or should I say, sweetitude. She doesn't have perfect conformation, but a good mind can make up for a lot of flaws.
I put her and Josie together right away as I don't have an isolation pen. Josie was so happy to have a buddy!

My first idea is silly but there's so much Peppy, Red, and Hot in the pedigree, I thought of Pepper. Her baby can be named Doc Pepper. Probably already taken. What about Lea (from Lena), Ole (from Olena), or Rose (from Red). I know it's just a barn name and doesn't have to reflect the past, I'm grasping. A diminutive for Cat (Kitty) in German is Mieze, an affectionate term, pronounced Meet-suh. If she were mine, and a sweetheart, I'd call her Mieze, but locals would think, "You named your horse Kitty?"

Congrats on your new mare, looks sweet. Good thing she has white socks to tell them apart! Cute how Josie took to her right away. Hope this horse works out well for you! Names, hmmm? Playing off the word hot, maybe Sriracha (hard to spell tho) or Caliente (hot in spanish) & call her Cali. "Hot" names don't really fit a mare that's sweet tho. You are great with names, you'll find one that fits her personality just by being around her. Have fun with your new horse!!
What a pretty girl! You could always call her "Cat", or "DeeDee", Salsa, or even Crystal? (as in the hot sauce found in every kitchen cabinet in the south ;o)

Gee they really do have a very similar faces! Fancy owning two chessies with no white on their faces at the same time! More common in QH's I guess but not something I'm used to here in Tb and Arabian land. :) Those white socks on the back are going to come in handy in the dark. :)
I thought of Saucy too but I like the suggestion of Salsa. That can be mild or spicy and might suit a gentle girl better, though she does look a bit saucy just now! :)
I had thought of Salsa but it is a little bit of a tongue twister. Thought of Caliente too, but my friend Janice has a dog called Kali, so that doesn't work.
