I had a request from
Mrs Mom to give Beamer a carrot from her. Wellllllll, this is what happened. I cut up a carrot and put it in a bucket for him (I don't hand feed stallions). He heard the bucket rattling; good things come in buckets, right?
He took a sniff, then took a mouthful and spit 'em out! Carrot bits all over the ground! Then he gives me this:
Think maybe he does NOT like carrots? Sorry, Mrs. Mom, I told him you said he has to eat his carrots, but he said no!

Baby Doll loves carrots, and apples (if I slice them), but will turn her nose up at peppermints...and any treat that smells like apples.....but aren't. hah!

Great shot. Had me in stitches. He is such a character. Only my old horse will eat Apples and Carrots, kinda hard for him to do now but if you offer he'll take.The Buckskin will eat apples I'm not sure about carrots.The young stuff have no idea what they are missing out on oh well their loss. Are you going sorting today if yes,let us all know how Beamer did. I'm sure he'll do well.
some of mine can be picky too , but you tell Mrs Mom, I have several carrot hounds here !

(Yes, I have personally had horses who would eat every single one of those and more! My old Appy gelding would do back flips just about for ... ready? Hamburgers. With ketchup.)

I once had a TB mare that liked lemonade and Hostess cupcakes. I give my horses cereal, saltine crackers, and peppermints, besides the usual carrots, apples, pears, celery, etc. Even the baby eats everything. Such a funny face on Beamer!
That's too funny. My horses eat carrots, but they've been a bit fussy about these carrot-flavored horse treats that they sell at the local feed store. They act like I put peanut butter on the roof of their mouth.
Ya know, NONE of our horses (mine, Kimfer's, her dad's) would ever eat carrots (or apples for that matter) until this summer when we "won" a gag prize of a bag of baby carrots. Now my horses loooove carrots... but only of the "baby" variety.
