Hey everyone, its giveaway time again! I wanted to do something for my loyal readers, and at the same time support some of the wonderful talent of our fellow bloggers. I've really enjoyed the photos over at
Gizzards and Calf Fries, and know that Kit has a business selling prints, notecards, mouse pads, mini framed photos, etc.-so I am offering a $30 gift certificate to
Crazy M Photography; the winner can pick out whatever you like, and Kit is kicking in to pay the shipping.
Here's the catch- (you knew there had to be one, right?) You have to leave a comment telling us about someone who makes Christmas special, whether for you or for someone else.
Contest closes Saturday at 9 A.M. my time (Mountain Standard Time). I will draw for the winner.

I love Kit's photography, so I had to delurk! My mom definitely makes Christmas special, she always tries so hard to make sure everyone has a great time and that everything is just perfect. She's the best!
How fun and so generous, too!
For me, Christmas wouldn't feel special without my 3 children. Seeing the joy and excitement on their faces as they gaze upon the tree, with the presents underneath, on Christmas morning fills my heart with so much love that my eyes with overflow with tears of happiness.
Happy Holidays to you!!

That's tough for me, Ive kinda got out of Christmas. Two things though make the season special wether I want to part of it or not. One my Mom always sends me stuff she made(always a new ornament for the tree)and two, people are just nicer at this time of the year making it a lot easier to like people.Flaky huh.
My chidren, of course, even though they are 23 & 27, but it's my 78 YO Mom who I most enjoy watching gather her brood around, fussing over everyone, wanting us to eat constantly and just smiling at the chaos!
ok iam entering this one.
what makes Christmas special for me is going to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and watching the beauty of it. completely sung in Latin. its timeless. Christ makes Christmas special for me because He is our Lord and Savior. when you think of that and the ultimate sacrifice He paid for us, its pretty humbling isn't it? We get to see this sacrifice everytime we attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Jesus is what Christmas is about, and that is extremely special for me. when you think of the Christ Child in the manger with the Blessed Virgin and Saint Joseph looking at Him lovingly it warms your heart. and thinking of Him in a humble dwelling knowing He is God is even more special.
think of the wise men there knowing how blessed they are seeing our Lord. imagine the star in the sky that led them to Jesus.
and the angels singing and the shepherds in the field hearing it. very special indeed. when we sing our Christmas carols on Christmas eve, and Christmas day, let us recall in our mind and heart that this is Jesus's birthday.
Well this year my good friend Amanda B. is doing something wonderful for a family in need. She is getting together a "Christmas package" that includes food for Christmas dinner as well as gifts for the children AND parents. (usually when people do this kind of thing there are only gifts for the kids)
As long as I've known her Amanda has been a wonderful, funny and generous woman so its not very surprising that she's doing this. However it is extra special because, while not poor, she and her family aren't exactly well off either.
Ooh I love her photography. I have a framed print right above my computer =D.
Christmas is special because I have my three nephews. I get to tell them all about santa clause and be the cool aunt and buy them EXACTLY what they want. My presents are always the coolest. This year I really broke the bank on them...darned spoiled kids.
My girls make Christmas so special to me. They are 36 and 38. Their presents they give are always the best. They are always so thoughful.
They make me proud.
Christmas is special to me for so many reasons , the joy on a childs face when they see the lights and the tree , watching the sunday school kids perform at the pageant and knowing that even though they may have crooked wing and thier halos are on sideways that they are learning the true meaning of Christmas in the proccess. My dad , the ultimate Santa , who has dressed up for the kids in his church to visit every year ( I go help as the elf) for I don't know how long. My sister ,who is at 45 still first up on Christmas morning , not for the gifts just soo exited about the day! Family and friends.
My mother makes it special for several reasons. Reason One is that she is still with us. She has outlived the doctors predictioins, and is still going strong. Reason Two is the little things she does. Making a new christmas ornament, baking favorite cookies, doing crafts with her granddaughters. Reason three is that she is so thankful she just passes that on.
My ponies are what make Christmas special for me. Not having family, those equines are my family now.
After having made the comment I did about Christmas I have thought about it some more.I know someone who does special things for other people but not just for Christmas. She is a young woman with two children of her own she runs a day care center, one can only imagine where she finds time to do anything. Her name is Sheena and she has a very compassionate nature. She does a bunch of those Shoe Box Christmas packages for the needy. One thing she does that I am proud of her for is her children have a play group and they take turns bringing food and snacks. Sheena always makes extra so it can be given to the homeless that come to the church for food. She does that from Sept until June. She also makes Christmas special for her Day Care kids, they make special decorations for their parents, she gives them a Christmas party and gifts which is something they might not see otherwise. She is just an admirable young woman that continuously gives back to her community, friends and family.
For me Christmas is about getting together over FOOD and FELLOWSHIP with friends and family.
Everywhere I have lived, there is something special about Christmas. When my daughter was a baby, I laid her in the manger while I did the milking and I thought of God giving us his only Son but my heart was with Mary, watching her son die on the cross. Now I live in the desert, where it will be cold and clear and quiet, as it was for Joseph and Mary so long ago. This will be my first Christmas without my Mother but I have my daughter, her wonderful partner and my grandaughter. We put up the nativity set and I tell her about the baby Jesus and I tell her the story about The Other Wise Man, as my father told it to me. Those are the things that make Christmas special for me.
